The opening ceremony will start at 7:30 PM IST, and in case you are not at home, here’s how you can watch the live stream online.

The opening ceremony is being hosted at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Stadium National Sports Club of India, SVP Stadium in Mumbai. The ceremony kicks off at 7:30PM IST and will be aired on Set Max, Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD. Tonight’s opening ceremony is likely to pip the previous iterations in terms of the scale and grandness. The star attractions for tonight include Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yo Yo Honey Singh, and the Kings United dance group among others. International artists like Chris Brown, and Major Lazer too will be performing at the opening ceremony tonight.

IPL 9 will continue to feature eight teams, despite bans on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. This year the teams contesting for the trophy include Gujarat Lions (GL), Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Daredevils (DD), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
