Indian woman gives birth to healthy baby boy at 70s

She must be the oldest mother to give birth, who is currently in 70s which is uncommon in India but can't suggest exact age as she does not have a birth certificate.

Anurag Bishnoi, embryologist and owner of the National Fertility and Test Tube Baby centre in Hisar, told the Guardian he believed she could be 72. “She has said she is five to seven years younger than her husband, and his birth certificate shows he was born on 12/04/1937,” he said.

Kaur said she and her husband, Mohinder Singh Gill, a farmer, had almost lost hope of having their own child and had faced ridicule in a country where infertility is sometimes seen as a curse from God.

“God heard our prayers. My life feels complete now,” she told Agence France-Presse from the northern city of Amritsar. “I am looking after the baby all by myself. I feel so full of energy. My husband is also very caring and helps me as much as he can.”

Bishnoi, who set up the clinic after gaining a master’s in clinical embryology at the University of Leeds, has carried out successful IVF on several geriatric couples. In 2008 one of his patients, Rajo Devi Lohan, became a first-time mother at 70 when she gave birth to a baby girl. Another woman became the mother of triplets at 66.

“They were donor eggs. She had two attempts and then a gap of six months. And then on the third attempt, it was successful. For them it is a time of great happiness. Especially because her brother, also, didn’t have any children. They were two families, and both didn’t have children. In Indian law they don’t allow adoption after 45 years of age.

He said he recognised that some people may consider IVF in older women unethical. “My point is if you put a restriction [on receiving IVF treatment] of 45 or 50 years, you will have to put a restriction on the males also. If they are talking about ethics, the [age] should be the same for both.”

As to how the couple would cope, he said: “They have relatives who are ready to help take care of the baby. And you can make anyone a guardian.”

Gill told AFP he was unfazed by their age. “People say, what will happen to the child once we die. But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent, he will take care of everything.”

KchmViewer 7.6

Kchmviewer is a free, open-source CHM (aka MS HTML help) and EPUB viewer written in C++ for Unix, Mac and Windows systems. Unlike most existing CHM viewers for Unix, it uses Trolltech Qt widget library, and could optionally be compiled for better KDE integration. It does not require KDE, but may be compiled with KDE widget support. Since version 5.0 it uses the Webkit API to show the content.

The main advantage of kchmviewer is the best support for non-English languages. Unlike other viewers, kchmviewer in most cases is able to correctly detect the chm file encoding and show it. It correctly shows the index and table of context in Russian, Spanish, Romanian, Korean, Chinese and Arabic help files, and with new search engine is able to search in any chm file no matter what language it is written.

kchmviewer is written by George Yunaev, and is licensed under GNU General Public License version 3. It uses chmlib to handle the CHM files, and some ideas from xchm.

Wine 1.9.24

Wine is an open source software that enables Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Solaris users to run Windows applications without a copy of Microsoft Windows. Wine is free software under constant development. Other platforms may benefit as well.

Wine makes it possible to take advantage of all the Unix strong points (stability, flexibility, remote administration) while still using the Windows applications you depend on. Unix has always made it possible to write powerful scripts. Wine makes it possible to call Windows applications from scripts that can also leverage the Unix environment to its full extent.

Wine makes it possible to access Windows applications remotely, even if they are a few thousand miles away. Wine makes it economical to use thin clients: simply install Wine on a Linux server, and voila, you can access these Windows applications from any X terminal. Wine can also be used to make existing Windows applications available on the Web by using VNC and its Java/HTML5 client.
